The helmet's crown is made of 6 individual parts (spangen). The jowl pieces are easily moveable. The nape protection is attached with two buckled leather straps and is removable and adjustable. The helmet is hand-made from steel and brass and is comfortable due to its leather inlay. Nasal, jowel and nape pieces are covered with red leather on the inside.
This Deurne Roman Cavalry Helmet made high quality reproduction of an original bronze Roman Cavalry helmet found in a bog at Deurne in Holland. Made of brass and features intricate detailing. This Late Roman Deurne Helmet is constructed from brass plates with brass-riveted construction. The cheekplates and neckplate are both hinged with integrated leather straps. The cheekplates are edged in leather and the entire interior of the helmet is lined with tight leather for cushion and comfort. An internal suspension of leather can be adjusted to modify the fit of the helmet to the head. Due to the hand-made nature of this item, slight differences in size and finish can be expected, making it a truly unique one of a kind collector's piece.
