The Vindolanda boot is an intriguing artifact discovered at the Vindolanda Roman fort in Northumberland, England. These boots date back to the 1st and 2nd centuries AD and provide valuable insights into Roman footwear design and usage.
The shoes have a first-class finish and are made from vegetable-tanned leather. They have the typical Roman, 7 mm long sole nails made of steel.
All vegetable-tanned leather shoes should be oiled or waxed on the outside before use and as required so that the leather remains supple and does not crack.
